Testimonials

  • "And for the competitive applicants, he possesses the insight to shepherd an application through the extremely narrow road to the elite colleges. Having assisted the Yale admissions office as an interviewer for ten years, I can attest to the need for specific, almost encoded, language expected...that accompanies the most accomplished student applications for that elusive accept."

  • I value Mr. Murray's ability to take their expansive knowledge regarding the college application process along with their knowledge of me (interests, academics, goals), and synthesize the two to optimize for my future.

  • Thank you so much for all that you are doing to shape our future leaders! I remember you fondly and how much the students love and admire you.

  • I would like to sincerely thank you for all the help you have given me. With all my family and financial stuff, I never thought I would actually apply to colleges because I would’ve just given up. Not only did you give me application advice, but you also made me realize that I am worthy enough to get into a college. I never believed that any of the things I did inside or outside of school had much meaning, but you gave me lots of confidence in myself and I have you to thank for that.

  • Your presence was always calming. During our first meeting you’d notice my anxiety and calm me down immediately , smth no faculty member has ever take the time to do. Your support and guidance has been so monumental to me, not just in my college application journey, but at times, for my wellbeing at [school]. Your knowledge and pasion for always doing what’s right pushes me...you always choose morality. I have learned so much from you in such a short amount of time. Thank you for being, as my boyfriend likes to call you, my guardian angel.

  • Thank you for making me feel seen and heard. What I really wanted to find was a place where I could (try to) change the world...thank you for working w/me through that impossible request. I have absolutely no clue how you do this job...And yet, I am going to my dream school.

  • Every year around this time, I send five notes of gratitude to those people who helped me and my family over the year. This year, those notes went to a retired CEO, a fly fisherman, a Marin county gardener, my son. And you. I cannot begin to thank you for the care and attention you have given Max both as a coach and as the Director of College Counseling. Thank you for all that you have done, and for all the other young men and women you give your light to...

  • I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for my brother, my parents, and especially me. You were an academic advisor, a social advisor, a cultural advisor, and (if I may) a friend, all wrapped into one invaluable person. You did not merely “go beyond” like our school motto instructs, you transcended your profession and you helped out a lot of people in the process. I speak for the entirety of your advisees when I say thank you. You helped ease my stress regarding the college process, and you guided me in making decisions that have undoubtedly shaped my life in a positive way.

  • Over the last three years Gregg has been more than a guidance and college counselor for Harrison. He’s been a mentor, an advocate, a friend and even a personal trainer. When I was in high school I had a history teacher who took a special interest in me and who served as my mentor. I always hoped Harrison would be fortunate enough to have such a bond and I am delighted that he found it in Gregg. Throughout Harrison’s Upper School years, Gregg has provided thoughtful academic advice, a sounding board for ideas, and, most importantly, a place of refuge where Harrison could find encouragement and an objective but sympathetic ear.
